Interactive Map of MRIWA Research Reports

Visually presenting the areas of Western Australia covered by MRIWA (and previously MERIWA) research projects, this interactive map enables the user to search based on MRIWA Project, area or mineral.

Created in partnership with the Department of Mines and Petroleum’s Geological Survey of Western Australia, MRIWA gratefully acknowledges the work of the GSWA’s Spatial Systems team in the creation of this useful tool.


MRIWA Annual Report

The Minerals Research Institute of Western Australia commenced operation on 1 February 2014.

The first Report was for the part-year 2013/14 and was published in September 2014.

The Annual Report outlines MRIWA’s research activities, including the scholarship winners’ research projects, the functions of the Institute and its financial performance.

Published MRIWA Project Reports

A searchable research database of all MRIWA (including MERIWA) research reports is a facility generously provided by the Geological Survey of Western Australia and hosted on the Department of Mines and Petroleum’s website.

Keyword search facility and the option to download pdf versions of all published MRIWA report is available by clicking here.

All research projects funded by MRIWA (and the predecessor Institutes) are required to provide a report to be published by the Institute.


The MERIWA Effect – History of MERIWA

This book, first published in 2003 by the University of WA Press, reflects on the first 20 years of operation of what was initially the Western Australian Minerals and Petroleum Research Institute (WAMPRI); this became the Minerals and Energy Research Institute of Western Australia (MERIWA) in 1987.
