PhD Scholarship program
Developing future thought leaders with the skills and passion to tackle key challenges in the Western Australian minerals industry
The MRIWA Education Program supports select education activities across WA and funds scholarships for higher degree students pursuing high-impact research bridging the research-industry divide at universities in Western Australia.
Scholarship recipients are also invited to participate in tailored training and professional development activities and provided mentoring and networking opportunities with MRIWA’s industry stakeholders.

- Sponsorship of the work of Earth Science WA
Scholarships available
MRIWA offers PhD scholarships for studies aligning with our Research Priority Plan.
Scholarships can be held at any university in Western Australia, and both international and domestic candidates are welcome to apply. Applications will be assessed against criteria of academic and research excellence, and the quality of a detailed expression of interest submitted by the applicant.
MRIWA is not currently accepting applications.
A new MRIWA scholarship round will open July 2021, for study commencing 2022.

- Stipend value of no less than $35,000 annually
- $5,000 annually to support research and related project costs
MRIWA research scholarship for women (female applicants only)
- PhD research scholarship
- Stipend value of no less than $35,000 annually
- $5,000 annually to support research and related project costs
MRIWA scholarships may be offered as top-up awards to successful applicants who have been awarded an RTP stipend scholarship through their host university.
