Consultancy Call for CMAP Facility Feasibility Study
The Critical Minerals Advanced Processing Common User Facility (CMAP) is advancing with a formal call for consultancy services via Tenders WA.
The Critical Minerals Advanced Processing Common User Facility (CMAP) has taken a step forward with a call for consultancy services through Tenders WA, in support of the Government’s proposed $200 million spend (conditional on co-funding with the Commonwealth on a 50:50 basis) over the Budget and forward estimates on engineering design works, capital equipment and operating costs.
The services requested will deliver a Feasibility Study and Detailed Business Case supported through funding secured from the Commonwealth Government and Western Australian (State) Government, a previously announced $3 million joint investment by Minister for Resources and Northern Australia Madeleine King MP and WA Mines and Petroleum Minister David Michael MLA under the $10.2 million Critical Minerals National Productivity Initiative towards ‘Growing critical minerals processing power in WA’.
MRIWA is leading this two-staged project with planning work, project and contract management by the Department of Housing and Works for and on behalf of the Minister for Works. The project will procure input from a range of technical disciplines including architectural, quantity surveying, time programming, engineering, management consultancy (including risk advisory) and property advisory.
The consultancy services will inform the CMAP Facility’s intent to focus on midstream activities such as processing, purifying and transforming of raw materials into usable materials for further application, including the reprocessing of mining waste and tailings and the recycling of batteries. In alignment with the WA Battery and Critical Minerals Strategy 2024-2030, the Government’s aim is to provide common use pilot plant equipment to support the growth and diversification of Western Australia’s resources and related industries whilst creating critical mass in research and training.
It is also intended that the CMAP Facility will the provide space, capital equipment and knowledge/personnel required to stimulate a pipeline of new entrants into the midstream critical mineral processing industry and build capacity in Australia.
Detailed tender advice is available for viewing on Tenders WA.
