The Minerals Research Institute of Western Australia is a statutory body established by the Western Australian Government for the purpose of fostering and promoting minerals research for the benefit of the State.

The Minerals Research Institute of WA Act 2013 stipulates the function, powers and administration of the Institute and details the corresponding accountability and financial provisions.

As required by the Minerals Research Institute of WA Act 2013, the Minister carried out a review of the operation and effectiveness of the Act as soon as practicable after the fifth anniversary of the commencement of the Act.

This review took place in 2018-19 and tabled in Parliament on 13 February 2019.
