The Minerals Research Institute of Western Australia (MRIWA) has completed the initial public consultation phase of its Research Priority Plan (RPP) review—a strategic framework guiding research investment to benefit WA’s minerals sector.

This review is being conducted in accordance with the Minerals Research Institute of Western Australia Act 2014, with support from ACIL Allen. As part of the process, MRIWA released a Discussion Paper and accompanying Web Form to invite public comment on the opportunities and challenges facing the industry.

We are pleased to share that the initial public consultation period closed on 17 September 2025. The feedback received during this phase will play a critical role in shaping the Draft Research Priority Plan, which will be released for further public comment before final endorsement by the Minister for Mines and Petroleum, the Hon. David Michael MLA, later this year.

MRIWA and the Minister extend sincere thanks to all stakeholders who took the time to provide input. Your contributions are vital to ensuring the RPP reflects the needs and aspirations of Western Australia’s minerals research community.

Stay tuned for updates as we move into the next phase of the review.
