The steel industry is on the cusp of a sustainable transformation. The hydrogen direct reduction (HDR) pathway—paired with electric arc furnaces (EAF) or potentially melter and basic oxygen furnaces (BOF)—stands as the most mature decarbonisation method. Meanwhile, hydrogen plasma reduction (HPR) promises to enhance efficiency, especially for Pilbara ores, though it requires more electricity.
The HILT CRC Project RP1.010 explored this question, testing the technological and economic viability of combining these methods. Join in on March 5, 2025, for a webinar unveiling the findings.
Speakers:
  • Adrien Guiraud, CSIRO & HILT CRC Minerals Processing Lead – Webinar Chair
  • Dr. Alireza Rahbari, ANU, Project Leader
  • Prof. M Akbar Rhamdhani, Swinburne University
  • Dr. Reiza Mukhlis, Swinburne University
  • Chris Cooper, ANU
  • Bima Satritama, CSIRO/Swinburne University
