The Challenge

Australia takes an average 16 years to progress mineral discoveries into mines, constraining the economic value realised from its mineral endowment. Accelerating responsible development requires coordinated research and innovation across the minerals value chain to improve productivity, reduce risk and enable faster development and adoption of new technologies.

Proposed Solution

This project will support development of the Stage 1 bid for the proposed Accelerating Minerals CRC, bringing together industry, government and research organisations to develop a nationally coordinated research portfolio. The proposed CRC will target improved sensing and data acquisition, FAIR data management, AI and advanced analytics, more efficient extraction and processing technologies, and translation of research into scalable industry solutions, with industry and government engagement informing the final research portfolio.

Proposed Benefits to WA

Participation in bid development will enable WA priorities to help shape a major national minerals research initiative. A successful CRC could strengthen technology development and adoption relevant to WA’s minerals sector, improving productivity, resource efficiency and environmental performance while accelerating the responsible development of Australia’s mineral resources.
