Critical Minerals Recovery with Simultaneous Generation of Cleaned Groundwater in the Goldfields

The Challenge

Mining and ore processing with hypersaline groundwater in WA’s Goldfields region poses serious economic and ecological challenges to these operations.

Proposed Solution

The Eco Technol project will filter the groundwater to produce a cleaned water stream for efficient ore processing and will at the same time recover and recycle magnesium and calcium compounds.

Proposed Benefits to WA

Eco Technol’s research into UF/NF membrane technology works to remove >95% of Mg/Ca from the hypersaline water in the Goldfields, improving the economics of the plants, and the recover and reuse Mg and Ca.
