The Challenge
Inaccurate drilling of blast holes in underground mines results in ore losses, dilution, production delays, rework and increased safety risks.
Proposed Solution
The outcome of this project is the development and optimisation of an alignment system for underground drills that utilises optical tracking technology to accurately align drill rigs to planned holes. The system delivers improved alignment precision compared to existing methods, while eliminating the need for traditional survey mark-ups.
Proposed Benefits to WA
The OptiClino system will deliver major gains for WA’s underground mining sector, improving drilling precision to reduce ore loss and operating costs. Enhanced stope performance, faster drill setups, and safer surveying practices will boost productivity and sustainability, strengthening WA’s global competitiveness and creating opportunities for local industry growth.
