The Future Battery Industries Cooperative Research Centre (FBI CRC) has been given the green light with Federal Minister for Industry, Science and Technology, the Hon Karen Andrews, announcing the successful bid outcome today.

Our State Government is a significant contributor to the FBI CRC committing $5.5 million, through the Minerals Research Institute of Western Australia (MRIWA), and $500,000 from the Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation.

MRIWA is excited at the opportunity to work with the FBI CRC to reinforce WA’s position as a global leader in the production and export of future battery materials, technologies and expertise.

The Federal Government have committed $25 million to the initiative which will be headquartered in Perth by Curtin, with State Governments and research partners provide backing of $28 million cash and $82 million in kind.

Congratulations to all involved in developing and championing the proposal.
