Ignition studies in flash smelting

Summary

Following a review of published material on the process of ignition and flash smelting, a test programme was conducted on a pilot flash smelter.

The variables examined were the type of coal added, the particle size to which it was ground and the quantity in which it was added to the sulphide concentrate as a fuel.
