Stress measurements from cored rock

Summary

In Western Australia high horizontal in situ stress fields occur in some mines at shallow depths, necessitating improved techniques for measuring stresses. A promising new technique was investigated in this project, which uses acoustic emissions and has several extremely useful attributes.
